The Power of your Words
February 24th, 2010
Without connections to others, who are we? Is it possible to be complete as a person without having a connection to others? To most of you, this answer is obvious. No…
I recently started following the Dalai Lama on Twitter, and I found it quite interesting that his excellency was actually following no one. Of course, his number of followers exceeded most Hollywood celebrities. To reach a level of greatness that allows your every word to hold so much power is something that not many can aspire to. This power can easily be abused, and comes with extreme responsibility. We have seen many times in history instances of abuse of power, that has led to violent revolutions and destruction.
In this new world that is becoming so tightly connected, how can we utilise and not abuse our words. The level of quality of the human word has decreased, as the quantity of verbal spewing through social media has increased exponentially. As I grow my community of blissful existence, I am aware of the responsibility I have to my readers. Connecting to the positive web, and not becoming intertwined in verbal weeds is a high priority.
To respect the positive web, one must refrain from using words as an Ego boost. Yes, you know something, but is it of value to others??? So before you tweet about what you had for breakfast, please take time to consider those that have gone without today. Create a positive change through your words, as you do hold that ultimate power.
